INTRODUCTION
Daniel: Hi everybody. Daniel here.
Chihiro: Chihiro here. Making an appointment 2.
Daniel: So, what's going on today?
Chihiro: Well, in this lesson you will learn how to set up a meeting place.
Daniel: This conversation takes place on the phone.
Chihiro: The conversation is between two friends, Mike and Joey.
Daniel: The speakers will be speaking casually.
Chihiro: Let’s listen to the conversation.
DIALOGUE
Mike: Hey, Joey. Sorry to call back again.
Joey: Hey, Mike. Long time! (sarcasm) Where are we eating again?
Mike: Ha ha, funny. Where do you want to meet up?
Joey: Someplace close to work might be nice.
Mike: Do you still work at that bar on Twelfth Avenue?
Joey: Yeah, I do.
Mike: Well, how about we go to the new oyster bar on Tenth Avenue and Thirty-third Street?
Joey: Sure, sounds good.
Mike: Okay. I'll see you there! ...Oh, and don't forget to get out of your uniform when you come. That dress would really attract attention.
Joey: Oh, got it. See you there, man!
POST CONVERSATION BANTER
Daniel: Mmmm. Sounds like they're going to grab some lunch!
Chihiro: It's common for people who work to eat outside at nearby restaurants, isn't it?
Daniel: Yup. Although many offices have some place for the employees to eat inside, many people prefer to eat
outside just to get out of the office.
Chihiro: Right. Some people may even be regular customers at their preferred places, and therefore have a friendly relationship with the people who work there.
Daniel: Chiihiro, are you a regular customer anywhere?
Chihiro: Actually I haven’t found a favorite place around here yet. You?
Daniel: I’m a regular customer at several Starbuck’s.

VOCAB AND PHRASE USAGE
Chihiro: Let’s take a closer look at the usage for some of the words and phrases from this lesson.
Daniel: The first phrase we’ll look at is “Long time!” Joey says this in a sarcastic way to Mike, and what he means is that it's been awhile since they've talked. It actually hasn't been a while at all, which is why the statement is sarcastic.
Chihiro: The second phrase we're looking at is, “don't forget to.” This is a phrase used to remind people to do something by telling them to not forget. In this case, Mike does not want Joey to come in his uniform, therefore, he's actually telling him not to come in his uniform and saying it like a reminder.

Lesson focus

Daniel: Okay, don't forget about our grammar point today, listeners!
Daniel: Let's review the simple present in this lesson by using some examples from the
dialogue and some general ones. First, let's take a look at this sentence.
Chihiro: “Do you still work at the bar on 12th Avenue?”
Daniel: Here, Mike is talking about Joey working at the bar, which is something Joey does on a daily basis with no change. Therefore, the question is in the simple present tense form and is used with the word “still.”
Chihiro: The next example from the dialogue is,
Daniel: “Sure, sounds good.”
Chihiro: Joey says “sounds good” in the simple present because he's talking about their appointment together that is true at that moment of the conversation and is not expected to change. The “sounds good” does have a pronoun before it, but in casual conversations the pronouns often drops.
Daniel: Now, here are some general examples of verbs that have some spelling changes in the third person singular.
Chihiro: We talked about a few in the first lesson, and here are a few more.
Daniel: The dog fetches the ball all the time. “Fetch” is spelled f-e-t-c-h.
Chihiro: She pushes her limits every day. “Pushes” is spelt p-u-s-h-e-s.
Daniel: He fixes problems at his job. “Fixes” is spelled f-i-x-e-s.
Chihiro: She kisses him on the cheek. “Kisses” is spelt k-i-s-s-e-s.
Daniel: And one last one. Joey studies every night. “Studies” is spelled s-t-u-d-i-e-s.
Chihiro: Don't forget to check out the lesson notes in the PDF for this lesson.

Outro

Chihiro: That just about does it for today.
Daniel: See you soon.
Chihiro: Bye for now!
