Learn English with EnglishClass101.com! What were you doing with your computer before 1996? You weren’t doing Google searches because Google didn’t exist. Now, just a few years later, it’s the most used tool on the Internet. People around the world use it 200,000,000 times a day. How do you think that happened? Do you think Google became the search engine of choice for millions of people just because it was the first one available? Probably not. Google’s features and continued additions help to keep it the most popular Internet tool. The size of the Internet makes such tools invaluable. Otherwise, we’d never find anything in the enormous, scattered, disorganized library called the Internet. So when was the last time you “Googled it?”

Learn English with EnglishClass101.com! “How’s it going, man? You don’t look so good.” Your friend’s English is much better than you feel. You desperately reply in English, “I have been stood up, jilted. And that’s not normally a problem, but I have really liked this girl. I don’t know what might have happened.” Sympathetically, your friend asks you in English, “Well, tell me what happened. When were you supposed to see her. Had you had any telephone calls from her? Had you gotten any text messages? Start at the beginning and tell me the story. We’ll turn it into one of those old English tales, sort of like Chaucer. You’ll be fine.” Your friend certainly has your best interest at heart, but his understanding of how you feel leaves something wanting. But you succumb to his friendly charm and tell him the whole story. How you had met the girl outside English class, went on a couple of dates, and made plans for another. Then all of a sudden, she had not shown up for the date. The next day, you hung around the English class and didn’t see here there either. You don’t know whether she’s avoiding you or she’s gone for some reason. But why didn’t she call you or leave a message? Romance has not been kind this time.
