A parking lot is an area set aside for the specific purpose of parking vehicles. Called car parks in some areas, parking lots are often located adjacent to or near stores, shopping areas, or other facilities that require customers to arrive by vehicle. Most parking lots have surfaces that are paved and marked with spaces in which vehicles can park.
