If you ever have aspirations of catching a glimpse of royalty, then a trip to Buckingham Palace should be right up your alley. If it's a dream to have tea with the Queen, or even sneak a peek of Prince Charles shaving in the reflection of a bathroom window, then bring your binoculars, a packet of crisps, and a whole lot of patience. You will need perseverance, luck, and a lot of free time of your hands. Britain and her Queen are intrinsically linked in the minds of her subjects, as well as in the world's view of the country as a whole. She is printed on our money, in varying degrees of age from youthful beauty to regal senior citizen splendour, and can be found as the figurehead for all major celebrations and occasions. The Queen turned 87 in 2013, and visitors still flock to her official London residence to bask in the presence of this national treasure. With 775 rooms, Buckingham Palace has remained the official London residence of Britain's sovereigns since 1837. Each year, more than 50,000 people are invited to the palace to attend dinners, receptions, lunches, banquets, and Royal Garden Parties. If you are lucky enough to make the cut, you can be guaranteed an evening you will never forget, and an audience with Her Majesty should leave you feeling royally flushed. |

Even though at the beginning it was hard to understand, it becomes much clear doing the class step by step.
In 2017 I visited London with my family and we went to Buckingham Palace for taking some pictures. My oldest daughter loved the city and she wants to come back for studying purposes.
Hello Garcia,
Thanks for the great question! ๐
"Regal senior citizen splendour" - is the authors description of the Queen's photograph on money/currency. It is quite a funny description - another way of saying this would be 'glorious royal older woman.' It's abit of an overstatement in relation to her photograph on money but amusing all the same.
Enjoy your studies!
Cheers,
Eva

Please explain "regal senior citizen splendour" more easily. :)
Hello @Tati, @Pui Pui and @Orrha,
Thank you all for your comments. ๐
@Tati - 'royally flushed' - is in relation to card games, it is a set of all the five highest cards in one suit.
@Pui Pui - you certainly do need perseverance, consistency and persistence to learn a new language - well done for sticking it out!
@ Orrha - 'Right up your alley' - means something is suited to your tastes or interests. 'Sneak a peak' - means to see or experience something before it is available to many people and 'make the cut' is to get the right result or score (for example, the boy made the cut to get into the football team.)
I hope this is helpful to you.
Sincerely,
Eva

Hello Mirela,
Thank you for posting.
What this means is when people think of Britain they also think of its Queen and when they think of the Queen they think of Britain where she is located.
Let us know if you have any questions.
Cheers,
Patricia
