Hello Richard,

Thanks for the great question! ๐Ÿ‘

Generally speaking, a 'medicine' is a medication prescribed by a doctor. These two words are often used interchangeably and it is usually down to the context to know if there is a difference between them. 'Drug' is generally used when talking about an addictive/illegal drug, for example heroin, or cocaine.

A 'medicine' is usually categorised as a substance that โ€œprevents, alleviates or cures a symptom, ailment or disease state," with the exception of chemotherapy drugs (used for cancer).

I hope this helps. ๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿ‘

Kindly,

ร‰va
