Lesson Transcript

My dear listeners, today we're going to take a trip to the post office. Now the post office in the States is called United States Postal Service and is blue and white.
Today, we're going to work on getting your postcards, letters, and packages home. The expression we need to accomplish this is, I'd like to send this to... and then the desired destination. For today's lesson, we'll use Italy.
You would say, I would like to send this to Italy. We have the question starter, I would like and then you say, to send which is the action you want, then you refer to the package with this to and then the destination, Italy. All together, that's I would like to send this to Italy.
If you are sending a postcard, you might say, I would like to send this postcard to Italy. In this case you replace this with postcard. So that's I would like to send this postcard to Italy.
You can send
-Postcards
-Letters
-Packages
And substitute this with any of those words, according to the thing you're sending.
Now, if you frequently want to send postcards and you don't want to come back to the post office every time, you can just buy stamps. If you want an $0.80 stamp, you can say, I would like five eighty-cent stamps please. So we have the question starter again, I would like and then the number of stamps you want, which in this case would be five and then the amount they're worth, so that would be eighty-cents and then what they are, stamps. So all together that's I would like five eighty-cent stamps please.
Now the package requires a closer look, which we'll do in the next lesson.
Okay, now to close out today's lesson, we'd like you to practice what you've just learned. I'll say the phrase or sentence, and why don't you try saying it out loud? Good luck everybody!
- I would like to send this to Italy.

All right, that's going to do it for today! See you all soon!
