Two people are having a conversation.
My mom never lets me play video games at home. What’s your favorite game?
Actually, I like sports better. Baseball, soccer... I like all the team sports.
I like fishing though. I wish we were fishing right now.
In this conversation, this character
Says "I wish we were fishing right now." By using the phrase "I wish," in combination with the noun "we" followed by the past tense verb phrase "WERE fishing right now," he is expressing regret that they did not end up fishing, and are instead doing a different activity.
