Do you know how to talk about improvements in a business context in English?
Welcome to Three Step English Practice by EnglishClass101.com. In this lesson, you will practice talking about improvements in a business context in English.
Let’s look at the main dialogue.
A person is giving a presentation..
At every level, we have made necessary improvements to be better for the environment, such as getting rid of plastic bottles in our break rooms. Because we have installed energy-saving light bulbs in all of our facilities, we use far less energy than we used to.
In this dialogue, the phrase “than we used to” is used to compare the present with the past. It shows improvement by highlighting how things have changed over time. The connector "such as" is used in the preceding sentence to introduce an example that demonstrates the change, and "Because" links another example to the clause expressing improvement.
Let’s practice using linking phrases like these more in this lesson.
