Hi, everybody. My name is Alisha. Welcome to the 2000 core English words and phrases video series.
Each lesson will help you learn new words, practice and review what you've learned.
Okay, let's get started. First is true. True. True. True is an adjective. This is the opposite
of false. True means something that is real, something that is a fact. Here's an example.
Is it true you won the tournament? Is it true you won the tournament? Is it true you won the
tournament? False. False. False. False is the opposite of true. False is an adjective. It
means something that is not a fact or something that is not real. Here's an example. One plus one
equals five is a false answer. One plus one equals five is a false answer. One plus one
equals five is a false answer. Study. Study. Study. To study is a verb which means to look at
information and to review information in order to learn something. Here's an example. I study
every day at school and for three hours each night. I study every day at school and for three
hours each night. I study every day at school and for three hours each night. Cook. Cook. Cook.
To cook is a verb which means to prepare food in order to eat it. When we say cook, we usually
mean using heat in some way to prepare the food but we can also use cook to mean preparing things.
For example, cutting things or mixing things. Here's an example. I like to cook dinner for
my friends. I like to cook dinner for my friends. I like to cook dinner for my friends.
Bath. Bath. Bath. Bath is a noun. A bath can refer to the thing in many people's homes like a large
tub we can fill with water. We also use bath to refer to the action of cleaning your body
inside this water. Here's an example. I'll take a bath at the hotel. I'll take a bath at the hotel.
I'll take a bath at the hotel. One billion. One billion. One billion is a huge number.
A billion comes after million and before million is hundred thousand. Before that is thousand.
One billion means one plus nine zeros. Here's an example. There are more than one billion
people in China. There are more than one billion people in China.
There are more than one billion people in China. One trillion. One trillion.
One trillion. One trillion is a super super big number. It's the next biggest after billion. So
the order is million, billion, trillion. We have three more digits in this which means after the
one there are twelve zeros. Here's an example. The sun is more than a trillion miles from Earth.
The sun is more than a trillion miles from Earth. The sun is more than a trillion miles from Earth.
One hundred thousand. One hundred thousand. One hundred thousand. One hundred thousand is the
smaller number after million. So we go billion, million, hundred thousand. So this is one hundred
of one thousand. Here's an example. One hundred thousand dollars per year is a good income.
One hundred thousand dollars per year is a good income. One hundred thousand dollars per year
is a good income. One million. One million. One million. One million is the next step up
after hundred thousand. This is one plus six zeros. Here's an example.
Over one million people live in Dallas, Texas. Over one million people live in Dallas, Texas.
Over one million people live in Dallas, Texas. One hundred billion. One hundred billion.
One hundred billion. So one hundred billion is between trillion and billion. So just add two
zeros to one billion and you'll get one hundred billion. Here's an example. You always have one
hundred billion excuses not to go out. You always have one hundred billion excuses not to go out.
You always have one hundred billion excuses not to go out.
