Do you know how to make strong assumptions in English? |
Welcome to Three Step English Practice by EnglishClass101.com. In this lesson, you will practice how to make strong assumptions in English. |
Let’s look at the main dialogue. |
Two people are having a conversation. |
I’ll just have to make her an offer she can’t refuse! Thanks, Lisa. See you Monday! |
Actually, I’m off next week. I’m going on a road trip with my parents. |
You must be so excited! Have a good trip! |
In this third line, the person is making the strong assumption, based on the context and what they already know, that the person they are speaking to is "so excited." |
They do this by stating the subject, followed by "must be," and then an adjective phrase. |
Let’s practice with this grammar more in this lesson. |
