You have some good points. Re: Facebook, I understand where you're coming from. However, I do think you can still enjoy it be choosing what information to reveal. At least, that's how I approach it. :cool:

if you quote McLuhan you should mention the global village as well, which I think applies more to the social networking then the Medium is the Message. Especially the flip site you mentioned is included in that phrase. At the same time some things/people very far away get closer to you also the things/people close to you seem to be uninteresting all of a sudden.

I don't like facebook, myspace and such because of the security issues with personal data. It is too transparent for me. Although I do participate in some social networking because it is a good way to stay in contact as well as find new friends. Two of my closest friends I found in an online forum.
