E-books never gonna do the same experience as real books. It's totally different.

Of course, E-books give to us the facility to read because you can just do a download of a book and read it immediately without waiting for it, or go to buy it at a library. I understand its success, we (humans) like fast things, but it's not the same. A real book you can touch it and has the experience to sweep such page to the left; feelling the smell of the book - it's really good lol - and other things.

A brief summary: we need to accept technology but never forget little important things.

The most recent version was released in May of 2009 to much fanfare.

Hello Ahmed,

Thank you for posting. The phrase "to much fanfare" is an English idiom that means that a lot of people are talking about it in the news, on TV, etc. It is often used to describe when something/someone was "trending" or popular. A "fanfare" is historically the music played before a person of importance, such as the Queen of England, would make public appearances. Now, the term is often used to describe the activity around new product launches. It can also be said "with much fanfare" and "amid much fanfare", depending on the context. Does that make sense?

Let us know if you have any more questions.

Cheers,

Patricia

Maybe ebooks and this "kindle" is popular in America but in old Europe we still hold books very high and it's still a sign of high intellect, intelligent and education.

Sure ebooks and stuff like that is good when you simply want to read the text but reading a book is a totally different experience. Like TV and cinema. Just because you have TV at home it doesn't mean you will stop going to the cinema. Or cinema didn't replace Theatre. Music is still played live even though we can store it and take it home with us. Ebooks aren't a replacement it just widens the possibilities we have. The use of language in its written form finds a new way. Just because we have computers and printers we don't stop using handwriting. And just because there is email we don't stop using letters and post cards. We combine and "old" media gets a new meaning.

When they invented printing people could afford to own books and the books weren't that precious anymore. But hand written books were. Another effect were that literacy could spread and even science changed how to exchange ideas because they could refer to other books.

I am not saying that ebooks are as revolutionary as printing, oh no, I just mean that meaning of media changes. Books became cheaper and cheaper. Nowadays books are hard cover or paperback. Paberback is for the masses. For books you just want to read and hard cover books are for keeping. That is something special. Or at least different.

I could go on and on about this.

Long story short: ebooks are not a replacement for real books
